Free wi-fi connection for all oddfellows customers at all times.
AIR CON
Automatically cools the whole bar area in the summer and heats in the winter.
LOCAL HISTORY
The walls are adorned with hundreds of photos, documents and assorted paraphernalia all relating to the localised history of the pub or the immediately surrounding area.
DAILY NEWSPAPERS
Up to date editions of the Journal, Metro, Sunday Sun, Viz, Private Eye and the Mag are all provided in Oddfellows as well as an assortment of trade papers and the occasional copy left by customers in the rack.
SLIDESHOW
The sideshow runs continuously and complements the bits hung on the walls. Whereas the walls follow a strict remit of being relevant to the pub or its' immediate locale the slide show spreads its wings a bit further and the 600plus pictures cover North shields, Preston Village and Tynemouth.
SKY TV
Oddfellows still subscribes to Sky and shows all available televised Newcastle and England matches.
LARGE SCREEN TV
The bar can boast a modern Samsung 50" flat screen plasma and a 42" LCD version to complement it. When the football is on the fact that everyone faces the same way in the compact bar area means that a fantastic atmosphere is generated. Usually the TVs are showing the local history slide show and or Sky sports news but are never intrusive to the general drinker.
OUTSIDE TV
The outside drinkers and smokers are all catered for with an outside rated flat screen TV located in the beer garden.
BEER GARDEN
Oddfellows beer garden, although compact, is a sun trap in the Summer as it backs almost due South. There is enough room to seat around 35 and there is even a dart board.
HEATED SMOKING SHELTER
Smokers may retreat to the smoking shelter which is heated when necessary by electric h alogen heaters, more friendly than the gas variety. Inside they will find a gallery of famous smokers to make them feel at home.
FREE SOUP
During the cold winter months free soup is provided for Oddfellows customers. The soup is home-made ham and vegetable broth and for those who get in quick enough there are also free buns provided.
FREE BBQ
Every Saturday night throughout the year from 7pm to 9pm all customers can take advantage of our free BBQ. Every drink (or ?2 spent) entitles you to something cooked to order on the barbie.
BOTTLE CONDITIONED RANGE
We can offer the discerning drinker an almost unique bottle conditioned range. Ten beers are available and are served from a specially modified cooler so that they are a perfect 10 degrees C. Beer menus are on tables.
CASK ALES
Oddfellows has been included in every Camra Good Beer Guide since 2005 and currently stocks two regular beers, Jarrow Bitter and Greene King Abbot Ale, as well as a constantly changing guest ale. Plans are afoot to provide a permanent real cider option in the near future.
MALT WHISKY SELECTION
A wide range of malt and deluxe whisky/whiskeys are always available.
HOT DRINKS
Oddfellows offers a range of filter coffees, leaf tea and hot chocolate at all times.
GIANT GAMES
In the summertime a giant versions of jenga and connect four are available to use in the beer garden.
POKER
Every Wednesday night a poker evening takes place. All are welcome and entry is free. All standards from beginner (learning the game) to professional (practising for more serious games) are catered for. Occasional players can play one night only whilst more regular players play for league points in order to qualify for regional finals where prizes and holidays have previously been won.
QUIZ
Two general knowledge quizzes take place every week in Oddfellows, one at 9pm on Thursday nights and one at 8pm on Sundays. Rounds include pictures, music, joker round, �snooker� round and an optional cash jackpot which has reached over ?400.00. Other prizes include drink tokens, more drink tokens, spot prizes and booby prizes.
DARTS
Oddfellows boasts two Tuesday night darts teams, both of which play in the North shields A League. Traditionally a strong darts venue the pub has hosted many professional darts players over the last few years including Phil Taylor, Eric Bristow, Peter (and Chrissy) Manley, Keith Deller, Steve Beaton, Rod Harrington, Colin Lloyd, Cliff Lazarenko, Roland Sholten, Chris Mason, Dennis Preistley and more.
FOOTBALL
Oddfellows supports three football teams. On a Saturday the towns' team, North Shields F.C. come back for a drink and a bite to eat in the bar. On Sundays two teams play from the pub, one in a morning league and one in an afternoon league. The pub also screens all possible Newcastle and England games.
TRADITIONAL BAR GAMES
Card tables and domino boards are available to use at any time as well as games compendiums which include chess, draughts, backgammon and many more.
FINE CIGARS
Oddfellows stocks a range of fine cigars as well as the more common varieties of panatella. All cigars are kept in perfect condition in a humidor behind the bar.
ANNUAL BEER FESTIVAL
Towards the end of April/beginning of May the pub holds an annual beer festival. Every year around twenty extra beers and ciders are available over a long weekend. The event has gained a reputation for having an excellent range of beers, even for the more dedicated ticker. Together with the usual cask beers and the bottle conditioned range the total number of real ales on sale numbers around the 35 mark.
CHARITY
Every year the pub holds a sponsored beer tasting event (pub crawl) where an intrepid group visit 16 of North Shields finest hostelries in a night. When Professional darts players visit they often donate their time for charity, playing challengers throughout the night. Individual customers have ran the Great North Run on numerous occasions and when the bar top box is counted up more than ?10,000 has been raised for the Pubs' charity of choice, The Stroke Association, over the last five years.
ANNUAL CONKER CHAMPIONSHIP
Every year around October a conker championship is held in the bar where participants play for the Conker Cup.
ANNUAL EGG JARPING CHAMPIONSHIP
Every year around Easter time an egg jarping (conkers with hard boiled eggs) championship is held in the bar where participants play for the Egg Cup.
BOOK CROSSING ZONE
